Get Started on the Road to Recovery

Overeaters Anonymous Silicon Valley (OASV) is a community of people who support each other in working the Twelve Steps to recover from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors – we have a solution that works, and we are here to help!

Although “Silicon Valley” is in our name, we serve all of Santa Clara County (comprised of 15 cities), and we warmly welcome the global community to explore our website and join our (online and in-person, English or Español) meetings.

OA is comprised of people with highly diverse backgrounds from all walks of life. Despite our many differences, we all have one thing in common. We have ALL struggled with a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body: the disease of compulsive eating.

Just like you, we were once new to this Twelve Step program of recovery. And just like you, our road to recovery began by taking that first baby step – opening our mind to a new way of thinking about our common problem (acknowledging that we have a disease over which we are “powerless”), and then relying upon one another for support (rather than attempting to tough it out on our own, under the limits of “self will”), as we look to a Higher Power (something of our own choosing that is a power greater than ourselves) to find real recovery from our disease, one-day-at-a-time.

Our one day at a time program has resulted in real recovery for tens of thousands of us who once believed we were beyond help, beyond hope, and certainly beyond any human aid.

And yet, we did recover.

Through working the Twelve Steps of Overeaters Anonymous, we discovered freedom from the bondage of our (ultimately deadly) disease, and a real joy for living. As we recovered, we came to find not just peace and serenity around food (i.e. food neutrality – something we had never before imagined possible), but we also found that our bodies were restored to good health and our minds experienced a happiness and freedom never before known.

If you want what we have – freedom from food obsession – then we invite you to do what we do. Attend a meeting, find a *sponsor, and join us on the road to recovery. You have nothing to lose but your misery!

*Sponsors are OA members who are living the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions to the best of their ability. They are willing to freely share their recovery with other members and are committed to **abstinence.

**Abstinence is the action of refraining from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors while working towards or maintaining a healthy body weight. Spiritual, emotional, and physical recovery is the result of living and working the Overeaters Anonymous Twelve Step program on a daily basis.

If you struggle with any kind of compulsive or disordered eating, such as binge eating, obesity, bulimia, anorexia, night time eating, poor body image, or other distressing or shameful food addiction, you are in the right place!
