We follow suggested Principles:
Within Overeaters Anonymous, we follow suggested principles to ensure the survival and growth of the many groups that compose OA. One of our principles – neutrality – stems from Tradition 10 which states that OA has no opinion on outside issues; hence, the OA name ought never be drawn into public controversy. If you would like to learn more about Tradition 10, please click here to video a short video.
And we Work Alongside You!
OA works alongside many like you, complementing your recommendations. What OA offers is an ongoing support system for members that encourages them to help one another – thereby weakening their isolation and loneliness. In OA, we have experienced that we get better together.

Learn More by Attending an Open OA meeting
We encourage all professionals, but particularly those in healthcare, as well as all medical students, to attend an open OA meeting to gain a better understanding of the nature of food addiction. Attendance at a few “open” OA meetings (and all OASV meetings are “open”) can clearly show how valuable the program can be.
It is not uncommon for some compulsive eaters to find recovery with OA alone, while others may greatly benefit from the combination of healthcare treatment and ongoing OA attendance. Overeaters Anonymous supports the decisions and recommendations of the professionals we encounter.
