DOES IT COST TO ATTEND AN OA MEETING?

No, it does not cost a single penny to attend an OA meeting. Anyone may attend an open OA meeting at no cost - and ALL our OASV meetings are open.

An “open” meeting is so named because it is open to anyone who is interested in learning about OA, or who is there to be of support to someone with interest in joining OA.

OA membership is not required to attend an open OA meeting. However, only OA members are invited to share at an open meeting. We ask visitors to hold any questions they may have until after the meeting concludes. At that time, feel free to ask your questions and to take any free OA literature that is made available.

Overeaters Anonymous groups all around the globe also offer closed meetings. A closed meeting is limited in attendance to people who have a desire to stop eating compulsively - this is the only requirement for OA membership.

We encourage you to visit a minimum of six OA meetings to get to know us before you make any decision about whether OA may be the right solution for you.

OVEREATERS ANONYMOUS IS SELF-SUPPORTING

Although we have no dues or fees, we are self-supporting through our own contributions as defined by our 7th Tradition.

Consequently, for those who are able, we do invite a suggested contribution of $5 per meeting from our regular members. A contribution is NEVER required for attendance – please give only to your level ⁹of ability.

We invite ALL newcomers to attend their first few meetings for free.

If you are of modest means, please keep coming to meetings knowing we want you here! You are NEVER expected to pay any dues or fees. A Seventh Tradition contribution is purely voluntary.

OASV intergroup does incur ongoing expenses (for this website, meeting site insurance, office expenses, the technologies employed, etc.). We give – according to our individual abilities – in order to cover all expenses so that we might continue to reach the still suffering compulsive eater and to keep our doors/online meetings open to those seeking to work our spiritual program of Twelve Step recovery – a design for living that really works as a one-day-at-a-time treatment for compulsive eating.

If you would like to contribute to Overeaters Anonymous Silicon Valley Intergroup so we can share our message of hope with more compulsive eaters throughout our county and beyond, please click here to contribute!
