SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR RECOVERY? GET INTO SERVICE!

If you ask any member of OA with strong recovery and solid abstinence, they will invariably share with you that service is a critical component of their recovery and which strengthens not only their relationship to their Higher Power, but that deepens their commitment to their abstinence and sense of peace around food. Put very simply, service is indispensable to our personal growth and sustained recovery.

Given all OA members share a responsibility for the operation of OA, we would like to encourage you to be of service to our OASV fellowship by reviewing and stepping up to serve in one of these open positions.

Featured Service Position of the Month: Temporary Sponsor Coordinator

If you have not done any general service within OA, a great way to get started that helps you to grow your own recovery, is to consider volunteering for the position of Temporary Sponsor Coordinator. This position requires just 3 months of abstinence and affords you the opportunity to get to know many of our members who are open to being a sponsor. Your task is simple in that you gather the names and numbers of those willing to be temporary sponsors, call to check upon their availability and preferred means of contact (phone number, text, and/or email), and then match them up with a newcomer or member returning from relapse who has reached out to OASV for help with finding a sponsor. Easy-peasy, and yet so rewarding given it grows your own list of outreach numbers and friends within the fellowship!

Why not check-in with your Higher  Power, or speak with your sponsor, about getting into service today? Service is life-saving!

DO YOU HAVE AN IDEA FOR A WORKSHOP?

Do you have a good idea for a workshop that you might like to lead for OASV Intergroup? Do you and another OA member have a special way that you work the steps that you would like to share with your fellows? Have you considered being a leader for one of the “pre-existing workshops” that OA.org has to offer (i.e. check out Planning a Sponsorship Workshop, Idea Workshop, or Carry the Message Workshop)? Is there something that you came to believe through having worked the Twelve Steps and/or Twelve Traditions of Overeaters Anonymous and would like to share by way of a workshop that could help others who are still struggling with our disease of compulsive eating? If you do have ANY ideas and a willingness to lead a workshop, OASV intergroup is eager to help you turn your vision, experience, strength, and hope into a workshop!

We are looking for people interested in creating or leading an OASV workshop. Please send your workshop ideas and suggestions to: info@oasv.org and we will bring those ideas before the OASV Intergroup for review and discussion.  We are excited to hear your ideas and to make them into a reality. Remember, together we get better!
