To meet the needs of compulsive eaters all around the globe, Overeaters Anonymous provides various ways to connect: in-person, online, over the phone, or via non-real-time meetings. The OA World Service Office (WSO) continues to offer its traditional phone and *non-real-time meetings to support all those that are interested in attending meetings with these format types, or that are unable to attend online meetings due to lack of internet access or technology challenges. OA MEETING AUTONOMY
According to tradition, every OA meeting is autonomous. That means each group may choose the type or format for its meeting and how it wants its meeting to be facilitated. Such decisions are made through taking a vote based upon the group’s conscience. Minority opinions are always encouraged and invited to be shared with the group. This helps ensure all members are included, given a voice, and fully informed. *Non-real-time meetings are meetings that do not meet in real-time, or meetings that do not occur immediately. These meetings may take place over a period of hours or days. Examples of non-real-time meetings are email or bulletin loops, social media pages, bulletin boards or forums, and mobile applications.
